Who We are
Our fellowship began in the early 1970s, when a small church called the Potter’s House in Prescott Arizona, began to see an influx of hippies and young people from the wrong side of the tracks give their lives to Christ and see their lives turn around. The Pastor, Wayman Mitchell, began to train these young people for ministry with the church setting, emphasising character, Bible teaching, Biblical standards and discipleship, then planting them out to begin new churches in towns across the US. The Gospel movement spread like wildfire. In the early 80s they sent a couple overseas to pioneer a new church in Perth, Western Australia. Today that church numbers in the Hundreds and is consistently planting new works national and internationally. Today.. There are currently over 2500 Potter’s House Christian churches that span over 100 nation, including more than a hundred across Australia. Many years ago the church in Perth sent a couple over to Brisbane to pioneer a brand new church. This church, Pastored by Peter & Kerri Field & based in Strathpine is a thriving multicultural congregation with a mission to reach the world for Jesus. The church here in Cairns Central was planted by the Strathpine Church & endeavours to reproduce the vision of our fellowship – to reach as many people as we can with the good news of Jesus Christ & to serve and support the members of our congregation.
MEET THE PASTOR
Fred & Haley Prasad both grew up in completely different worlds. Fred raised in New Zealand by a single father in Auckland’s South Central area faced the normal troubles that a young kid would face but would slowly grow into a life filled with trouble.
Haley was fortunate to have been raised in a Christian house hold but like every young adult she battled with her identity. Before meeting & marrying they both individually gave their lives to Christ & were born again receiving not only forgiveness of their sins but purpose, direction & hope for their future. God has moved radically in both of their lives. Not only have they personally experienced Gods unending grace they have witnessed the transforming wonder of God in many other peoples lives. From broken addictions, fear & anxieties, restored relationships & physical healing. They have been fortunate to have travelled overseas to Africa on mission teams and to the Island of Bougainville allowing them to see the power of God move in those nations. Together they assisted the senior Pastor Peter & Kerri Field in the Potters House Church Brisbane for the last 2 years and Have been given an awesome opportunity to Pioneer the Potters House Cairns Central Christian Church & would love to meet you and help you discover Gods amazing plan for your life!
